CSIRO steps up toxic chemical monitoring

The fall-out from the widespread use of the now-banned chemical DDT was pivotal to turning the world’s attention to the inherent dangers of toxins in industrial and agricultural applications. The CSIRO has recently renewed its efforts to monitor the long-term environmental costs of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), which include the notorious DDT. Today we look at the need for environmentally friendly liquids and the emergence of a new breed of industrial cleaning solutions such as those offered by Perth-based Envirosafe Solutions.

Toxic chemicals have left an indelible mark on the environment prompting a global push toward the use of safe, sustainable and biodegradable products.

The worst offenders have been common products containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), such as the wide-spread use of DDT as an effective pesticide in the first half of last century. Initially considered safe, concerns were raised after it was discovered prolonged use caused it to build up in the fatty tissue of mammals, including humans. More than twenty years after it was banned in Australia wildlife such as the Peregrine Falcon are still rehabilitating.

CSIRO monitors POPs effects

In March 2011 the CSIRO upped efforts to monitor the widespread environmental and health effects of POPs to quantify the success of the 2004 Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. The convention, which was ratified by 172 countries including Australia, outlines protocols to reduce and eliminate emissions from POPs and their by-products. It requires:

  • Control measures on 12 POPs including industrial chemicals polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hexachlorobenzene and by-products dioxins and furans.
  • Approval assessment for new and existing chemicals to consider effects of  bioaccumulation, potential for long-range environmental transport and potential for adverse effects on human health and the environment.

CSIRO scientist Dr Melita Keywood said these pollutants were non-biodegradable, dispersed widely from the original source and accumulated in human and animal fatty tissue. “Some POPs can be transported through atmospheric dispersion to other regions and continents, thousands of kilometres from where they were originally used.” Data will be collected from atmospheric monitoring stations at sites in Tasmania, Melbourne and Darwin.

Data crucial to safer future

Environmental damage from common chemical applications needed to be monitored and minimised, according to Envirosafe Solutions. It supplies eco friendly liquid products to businesses within the automotive, mining, hospitality and corporate sectors as well as schools, hospitals and government enterprises. Director Murray Simon said toxic chemicals were not only hazardous but unnecessary. “Our products are primarily based on natural ingredients and they offer powerful results. Chemical usage carries hidden costs in terms of damage to the environment, health and the storage and transportation of dangerous goods.”

A better solution

Envirosafe Solutions’ range of cleaners include solvent-free degreaser, sanitiser/mould rid, porta-loo treatment, radiator cleaner, glass cleaner, diesel bug killer, rubber remover, multi-purpose lubricant and fuel conditioner. These  environmental cleaning products offer a highly-effective yet sustainable solution.

The earth cannot afford a repeat of the 1950s DDT spraying disaster and efforts to monitor long-term POPs effects highlight the value of environmental cleaning products. Envirosafe Solutions provide eco-friendly liquid products for a comprehensive range of industrial applications. For more information phone 1300 88 90 70 or email info@evss.com.au.

Stern warning for Australia’s uranium sector

As the fallout from Japan’s nuclear disaster continues, uncertainty reigns over the future of uranium mining in Australia. While the major uranium miners in this country eye the prospect of expanding their operations, a word of caution has been handed down from inside their own industry.

Last month the annual Paydirt Uranium Conference convened in Adelaide. Addressing the guests was Mr Mark Chalmers, chairman of the Uranium Advisory Council and a widely-respected uranium mining expert.

Mr. Chalmers declared at the conference that “second chances” were very difficult to achieve in the uranium sector. It was of utmost importance for mining companies to “get in right the first time”.

According to Mr. Chalmers, “no element can polarise the population or political system more than being confronted with, and having to manage, some failure in the domestic uranium or nuclear sector”.

The general theme of Mr. Chalmers’ speech was that Australia’s uranium miners must tread more carefully than ever before. As demonstrated by the events in Japan, a nuclear accident can badly damage the credibility of uranium mining, and Australian miners must act with extreme caution to maintain public faith.

These words of warning come as mining companies face intense scrutiny from anti-nuclear groups. It is suspected that Australian uranium was being processed in Japan’s Fukushima reactor during the earthquake disaster, and anti-nuclear campaigners have seized on this with renewed calls to end uranium mining in Australia.

The ultimate fate of Australia’s uranium sector remains unclear. Whatever direction the industry takes, there is a new post-Japan reality for uranium mining. Uranium companies are now under the spotlight more than ever before, and must be prepared for new levels of public accountability.

Formaldehyde – Nasty Stuff!

The name ‘Formaldehyde’ has a bit of a nasty ring to it these days, and not without good reason. Even very limited exposure to the stuff can induce severe irritation of the throat, nose and eyes. Those unlucky enough to suffer long term Formaldehyde exposure can develop respiratory illnesses and eventually lung cancer.[i] The dangers of Formaldehyde are well-known, and around the world its sale and use is being increasingly restricted and regulated.

The reason that Formaldehyde exposure is such a serious issue is that we use the stuff in enormous quantities. You could describe Formaldehyde as a “building-block” chemical. It’s the precursor to innumerable other more advanced chemical compounds, and utilised in a vast array of industrial applications. In fact, we wouldn’t have made it very far without the assistance of Formaldehyde – it’s allowed us to create materials for the textile industry, automobile manufacture, tissue embalming, industrial adhesives, insulation, paint, explosives and a whole lot more.

Formaldehyde is also a potent biocide, capable of killing most bacteria and fungi. Because of this, Formaldehyde has been a major ingredient in disinfectants, including hand wash solutions, detergents and even toilet treatments. For all the convenience of using a powerful biocide like Formaldehyde, this is thought to a key contributing factor to some negative health effects. Skin absorption through contact with a Formaldehyde solution is one of the leading causes of harmful exposure.[ii]

In modern times this is one of the most dangerous and unnecessary uses of Formaldehyde. Today we are aware of numerous other non-harmful biocides  that perform the same disinfectant functions without the health hazards. One such safe biocide is Benzalkonium Chloride…..

Envirosafe Solutions is constantly researching alternative biocides and do not use Formaldehyde in any of their products.

Studies have concluded that benzalkonium chloride-based hand sanitisers perform just as well as traditional competing products. [iii]

So if you want a safe, healthy alternative then call Envirosafe Solutions today and enquire about there Extreme Green range of products. Their number is 1300 88 90 70

“Going green” now recognised as a productivity booster

For much of the recent past, corporate and business leaders have viewed “going green” as more of a public relations exercise than anything else. Switching to green business practices is often thought of as a cumbersome and expensive exercise, the main benefit of which is improved public perception of a company.

Without believing in the real value of green practices, many businesses have been hesitant to adopt changes. Failure to recognise and understand the intrinsic benefits of going green has been a huge obstruction to environmental progress.

Luckily, however, things appear to be changing. In March this year CoreNet Global and Jones Lang LaSalle released a new survey on sustainability in corporate real estate. Numerous interviews with corporate real estate executives (those in charge of buying office space) revealed that sustainability and green credentials are now a major consideration in choosing where to locate staff.

A vast majority of executives indicated that they were willing to pay more for space in “green offices”. This is because healthy and sustainable office space is known to increase employee productivity and satisfaction. Disregarding any external pressure to adopt green policies, companies are now realising that sustainability is better for their own bottom line.

This latest survey is evidence that “going green” is a powerful investment in the future of your business. Not simply for external reasons such as image and customer relations, but for the fundamental strength and innovation of your company. Healthy employees are productive employees, so providing a green and safe workplace is an investment that pays for itself.

Envirosafe Solutions can help you achieve this goal. For information on our range of green industrial products, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

The menace of graffiti and how to remove it.

Graffiti is a menace that plagues too many communities in Australia. Most business owners will be familiar with that sinking feeling:  you arrive to work on Monday morning to discover your office or shopfront covered in spray-painted obscenities or ‘Tags’. Nothing drives customers away like an unsightly mess splattered across your place of business.

This unfortunate situation needs to be dealt with quickly and effectively. You simply can’t afford to leave graffiti unattended in the public view. Understandably, there’s a huge market for graffiti removal products. Cleaning up graffiti can be a precarious business, however. Many traditional removal products are loaded with toxic chemicals and harsh acids. Sure, they’ll get rid of the graffiti, but these products pose a serious health risk the operator and the soils that they drain into.

What’s more, corrosive substances can often remove more than the spray paint, causing damage to the treated surfaces that ends up looking even worse than the graffiti did! Many people simply can’t be bothered with the hassle, and pay top dollar for a professional graffiti removal service. But why shell out all that cash, and risk damaging your health and property, when you can get the job done yourself in a safe and economical manner?

Extreme Green Graffiti Remover (formerly Exit Tag) is a powerful and versatile DIY graffiti remover that the professionals use, effective against the whole arsenal of vandalism tools: spray paint, permanent marker, ink, crayon, liquid paper . . . the list goes on. Graffiti artists are forever thinking up new areas and surfaces to desecrate, but fear not, because Extreme Green Graffiti Remover (formerly Exit Tag) works on them all. The product can be used on brick, wood, glass, metal, perspex, masonry and just about anywhere else the little devils aim their cans at.

Extreme Green Graffiti Remover  is a rapid acting solution. There’ll be no standing around waiting for results – this product works in under three minutes. It’s a simple matter of applying the undiluted solution, watching the graffiti disappear, and then rinsing it all off with a high pressure hose. Because Extreme Green Graffiti Remover contains only nonhazardous solvents, there’s no need for a full body suit of protective clothing that you see some graffiti removalists wearing. It’s a user-friendly product that gets the job done with minimal hassle and mess.

Don’t tolerate that hideous graffiti at your workplace, or pay through the nose unnecessarily to have it removed. With Extreme Green Graffiti Remover you keep your surfaces graffiti-free. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can assist you with graffiti removal, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser

If you work in a commercial kitchen, you probably spend more time cleaning than you’d like to. Grease and burnt-on foodstuffs can build up very quickly on a heavily-used griddle or stovetop ‘spiders’. And it can be absolute hell trying to clean them off. Long-term carbon deposits can feel as if they’re welded to the metal. How many hours have you spent madly scrubbing at a dirty great lump of black stuff on your stovetop – with meagre results to show for your pain and sweat.

Surely there’s an easier way! Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser is a soaking cleaner that does all of that hard work for you. Forget the elbow grease and sweaty brow, simply drop your soiled equipment into a heated soak tank, add the required dose of Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser, then sit back and relax while nature takes its course. This product eats away at grease, oil and carbon with the kind of power that no amount of scrubbing can match. Your griddles and stovetops will emerge looking brand new and sparkling. Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser is also highly effective at removing grease from extraction fan filters and grills.

There’s a multitude of products out there that perform the same function as Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser, but ours has an important difference. Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser is made entirely from environmentally friendly, biodegradable ingredients. While most products that cut through grease and carbon, they rely on harsh and toxic chemicals to do the work, however we don’t like that so we’ve taken an all-natural approach.

It’s a safe bet that any cleaning product you use in the kitchen is going straight into our waterways. petro-solvents and mineral acids – the base ingredients of many degreasers and cleaners – are extremely harmful to our environment. They travel through our water system, killing marine life and fostering poisonous algae blooms, and eventually contaminate our soil and air as well.

Using these products is a huge risk to the environment, and completely unnecessary when there are safe alternatives like Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser available. Because Extreme Green Commercial Kitchen Degreaser is non-polluting, it’s ideal for use in remote areas where septic systems are used and disposal of chemicals is an issue.

You need to keep your kitchen clean and functional. What you don’t need to do is pollute the earth and compromise the health of your staff and customers in the process. Envirosafe Solutions specialises in eco-friendly cleaning solutions that are effective, affordable and safe for everyone involved. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can assist you with commercial kitchen cleaning, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

Future of climate agreement uncertain

The current round of UN climate talks began on Tuesday in Bangkok, Thailand. These are the latest negotiations since the Cancun sessions in December last year. While the Cancun talks produced a raft of smaller agreements on clean technology and new climate funds, they sidestepped bigger questions on the fate of the Kyoto Protocol post-2012.

The Bangkok talks are off to a tumultuous start, with developing nations putting heavy pressure on the industrialised economic powers to extend the current emissions target regime until at least 2013. The current phase of the Kyoto Protocol – the world’s primary emissions target agreement – is due to expire next year.

Pacific island nations such as Tuvalu, which would face catastrophic disaster in the event of rising sea levels, are leading the call for an extension of Kyoto. There are fears that if the current agreement lapses without a clear path forward, gaps in international consensus may emerge, making it increasingly difficult to orchestrate a new global emissions target in the future.

At Envirosafe Solutions we believe passionately in the need to preserve our global environment. We will be watching the UN climate talks with great interest, in the hope that all nations can work together to combat climate change.

Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray

Summer is upon us. Despite the numerous joys of the warmer months, no-one is thrilled about the swarms of nasty critters that invade our workplaces at this time of year. The creepy crawlies are out in force, and how to deal with them is an ongoing problem for all Australian businesses.

Insects in the workplace are an unpleasant fact of life in Australia. At best, they’re an unsightly nuisance. At worst, insects pose a serious OH&S risk. Sprays, poisons and repellents have long been tools of the trade in offices and workshops across the country. In the good old days you would simply grab the closest can of Mortein and blast Mr. Cockroach into oblivion.

But times are changing. Attitudes have hardened and people are sceptical about any product loaded with dangerous chemicals. There is an increasing awareness of the health risks posed by insect sprays. The use of toxic products in the workplace can become an OH&S issue of its own – and no employer wants to poison their staff along with their cockroaches. Then there’s the environmental impact to consider. These days good business is green business, and you shouldn’t have to pollute the earth just to keep your office free of bugsExtreme Green Insect Surface SprayExtreme Green Insect Surface SprayExtreme Green Insect Surface Spray.

Many businesses are turning away from conventional insect sprays, fearing that the risks outweigh the benefits. Perfectly understandable, but that doesn’t mean we should give up and simply accept nasty creatures crawling around at work. What Australians businesses need is an effective method of insect control that’s safe for people and safe for the planeExtreme Green Insect Surface SprayExtreme Green Insect Surface Spray.

With this brief in mind, Envirosafe Solutions has developed Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray –  a non toxic insect control solution suitable for all industries. Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray is a not just another bug spray – it’s a new direction in pest control technology. The compound is 3-4 times more active than conventional surface sprays – meaning that it’s seriously potent again insects – and a single application protects for up to three months. Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray is effective indoors and out, against the whole range of nuisance insects: Cockroaches, Ants, Spiders, Flies, Silverfish, Fleas, Mosquitoes and moreExtreme Green Insect Surface Spray.

Most importantly, Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray has been designed with extremely low levels of mammalian toxicity. This is the crucial factor that sets our product apart: The formula is deadly to insects while posing no threat to humans and animals. Extreme Green Insect Surface Spray is an eco-friendly solution, engineered with biodegradable ingredients that break down over time and won’t damage the environment.

Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash

Liquid soap dispensers are the weapon of choice against bacteria these days, especially in public facilities and commercial food preparation areas. Easy access to soap is essential to prevent the spread of germs and disease. It’s your responsibility as a business owner to safeguard the health of yourself, your staff and your customers.

Unfortunately, a lot of liquid soaps on the market do as much damage as they do good. Dry, pasty skin is an unfortunate after-effect of many soap products. They suck the moisture out of your skin and leave your hands feeling tired and parched. At best, this is a discomfort and an inconvenience. At worst, over-dried skin becomes fertile ground for the onset of dermatitis. Painful skin rashes can often begin with the use of skin-drying soap. Hardly seems worth the trouble, just for the sake of clean hands.

Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash has been specifically designed to avoid this situation. We’ve added a humectant to prevent drying of the skin. What on earth is a humectant, you may ask? Without delving into a whole lot of chemistry jargon, a humectant is essentially a chemical compound that bonds with water. Adding a humectant to soap helps the skin to retain moisture after washing. Which means Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash performs the cleaning function of regular soap, without the nasty skin effects afterwards.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that such a gentle product must be less powerful than a harsh, skin-drying soap. Soft, supple hands aside – this product delivers results. Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash has been engineered with a blend of high-quality surface active agents. This product quickly emulsifies all soilage on the hands, leaving them very clean. The highly effective antibacterial agent in Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash kills any germs present, leaving your hands thoroughly disinfected and ready to get back to work.

For commercial use, you need liquid soap, and you need it in large quantities. On a cost per use basis, Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash is very economical and represents excellent value for money. Keeping your business clean and bacteria-free shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash will kill germs without killing your finances.

Extreme Green Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash is yet another example of the gentle effectiveness of natural products. Achieving results needn’t mean accepting harsh and harmful side-effects. At Envirosafe Solutions we offer a range of soaps and disinfectants, all with a single purpose: to remove dirt and kill bacteria, and nothing else. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can help you with antibacterial solutions, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

Rust Converter

If your line of work involves a lot of mechanical equipment, or simply a lot of metal, rust is a threat that you must constantly be on the look out for. If left unattended, corroded metal becomes an expensive and potentially very dangerous problem. Everyone knows this, and there’s a whole host of rust removal products out there to help you keep corrosion under control.

The problem is that most of these products take a short-sighted approach to the issue. Simply removing rust from a metal surface is a quick-fix solution. Looks nice and pretty when it’s done, but more often than not the rust will creep back over time, leaving you right back where you started. If you’ve painted the surface in the meantime, the reappearance of rust is an even bigger frustration.

Rust Converter does not simply remove rust from metal. As the name implies, this product converts rust, into a tough organic matrix that binds with the metal surface and inhibits further corrosion. Rust Converter actually turns rust into an anti-corrosive protector against further rust. In effect, trading an enemy for an ally. Not a bad deal, hey? Once Rust Converter has worked its magic, the surface is safe to paint, and you can sleep easy at night knowing that the rust is gone for good.

This product is equally effective on equipment, vehicles, sheds, storage tanks, pipelines and just about anywhere else that rust is a problem. It’s works especially well on heavily rusted and inaccessible surfaces that are unsuitable for conventional treatments. Anywhere you need to stop the rusting process and paint over it – look no further than Rust Converter.

Rust Converter is highly effective against a wide range of rust problems, and yet this product is entirely safe to use and gentle on the environment. Rust Converter contains no mineral acids, phosphates or solvents. It destroys and converts rust using only biodegradable ingredients that wash away safely and cause no ecological harm.

So next time you’ve got a rust situation to deal with, why bother removing the brown stuff with a harsh and toxic product that will only give you temporary results? Use Rust Converter to get rid of the corrosion once and for all, and reduce the environmental footprint of your business at the same time. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can assist you with rust control, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

Rubber Remover

If you’re working with forklifts, walker stackers, trolleys and the like, the build up of rubber deposits on your warehouse or factory floor is a constant problem you have to be on the look out for. It’s unsightly, all those dirty great black marks across what used to be a clean and shiny floor. But more importantly than that, it’s a potential OH&S issue. The last thing you need is one of your employees tripping up and injuring themselves, all because of a trip hazard from some black sticky stuff on the ground. An effective rubber removal agent is essential to keep the workplace clean, well-presented and, most importantly, safe.

You have to be careful though, about what sort of chemicals you’re splashing around. A lot of rubber removal products are based on petroleum solvents. Once they get into our waterways these chemicals are an environmental nightmare. They poison soil and water and kill precious marine life. And that’s only half the problem. Toxic chemicals threaten the health of you and your staff as well. Anything you clean your floor with is going to release vapours that will hang around in the air. Nasty solvent fumes are definitely not the sort of thing you want your employees breathing in – unless, of course, you want to see an enormous spike in sick leave. The people working for you are your most valuable asset, so you may as well treat them like it and look after their health.

Rubber Remover won’t give you any such headaches. It’s our green alternative and it’s guaranteed to produce the same cleaning results as other products, minus the negative impact. Rubber Remover is made of totally natural and biodegradable ingredients, which means you’re not harming the environment and you’re not risking the health of your employees.

What’s more, Rubber Remover is an absolute breeze to use. All you have to do is apply the product directly to your floor surface via an atomiser, agitate with a broom and then wait for five short minutes while the rubber deposits dissolve and disappear. Mop up the leftovers, give it a good rinse, then stand back and appreciate the sight of a sparkling clean floor. Simple as that.

Envirosafe Solutions makes your life at work easier. We give you the tools you need to keep your workplace clean, tidy and functional. And we let you sleep easy at night, knowing that for every Envirosafe product you use, you’re doing the planet a massive favour at the same time. If that isn’t value for money, we don’t know what is! For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can help you with rubber removal, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

The Power of Orange Oil

Few people appreciate the wide-ranging powers of citrus fruits. The humble orange is more than a tasty snack; it’s the source of one of nature’s most powerful and versatile tools: Orange Oil. The sheer multitude of uses for this essential oil is staggering. It’s a key ingredient in anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant and anti-spasmodic drugs. It’s a disinfectant, a degreaser and a paint stripper. It’s even been suggested that Orange Oil has mild aphrodisiac qualities.[1] In short, it’s the superman of citrus oils.

Most of us know the pain of trying to clean up sticky stuff. Whether it’s chewing gum in the carpet, old glue marks on the wall, or a grease-laden engine part, there’s nearly always a huge amount of scrubbing and frustration involved. If you’ve never tried an orange oil product to assist with this type of cleaning, prepare to be amazed. Orange oil chemically reacts with other oils, in grease, paint, chewing gum and so on, causing these products to break down and wash away with ease.[2] It’s really quite incredible that such potent cleaning power can be found inside a piece of fruit.

And it doesn’t even stop there. Got an ant infestation problem in the house or office? Orange Oil will sort that out for you. Limonene, the active ingredient in Orange Oil, is a highly effective natural pesticide. It can kill entire colonies of ants without posing the slightest bit of dangers to humans. Limonene is also widely used as a mosquito repellent and a termite control solution.[3] Investing in an orange oil treatment may buy your wooden furniture years of extra life.

Yet another beauty of orange oil is the ease with which it’s produced. It’s readily available in orange peels and doesn’t require a high-tech extraction process. Getting the oil out of oranges and into usable products is a simple and low impact procedure, meaning using orange oil products is all benefit with next to no cost.

Orange Oil is a perfect example of our philosophy at Envirosafe Solutions: that for every harsh and toxic chemical that we use in our day to day lives, there is a clean, safe and equally effective alternative to be found in nature. Our mission is to find these natural alternatives and develop them into safe and effective industrial cleaning products. Because the power of nature is simply too great to ignore.

Marine Glass Cleaner

Anyone who works in a marine environment knows that cleaning glass on a boat is a whole different kettle of fish, so to speak, to cleaning glass anywhere else. Constant exposure to saltwater spray leaves a tough residue on windows and glass surfaces – so tough that most conventional glass cleaning products are completely ineffective against it. If you’re exposed to salt, you need a specifically-designed glass cleaner to keep your windows clear.

Marine Glass Cleaner was formulated specially for the Australian Navy, to cut through salt residue on portholes and glass surfaces as quickly as possible. Your time is precious, and you don’t want to be spending hours scrubbing away at your boat when you’ve got more pressing business to attend to. Marine Glass Cleaner is a fast-acting solution that strips away salt and leaves your windows clear and sparkling, all in a matter of minutes.

And that’s not the end of the story. Marine Glass Cleaner actually produces a two-in-one cleaning effect. After removing salt residue from a window, this cleaner leaves a durable and protective coating on the glass. This causes sea spray to bead and run off the glass surface in future, reducing build up of salt deposits – meaning you need to clean your glass less rigorously and less often. So using Marine Glass Cleaner is actually a long term time and money saver.

This is a highly-targeted marine cleaning agent, but it’s by no means limited to use on boats. Any vehicle that comes in contact with saltwater will benefit from Marine Glass Cleaner. You can use this product with equal effect on motor vehicle windscreens and aircraft.

Like all Envirosafe products, Marine Glass Cleaner is totally biodegradable. Our oceans and rivers are a vital natural resource, and the source of livelihood for many Australians. So it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to pollute the very water that we work on. Marine Glass Cleaner will break down  and disperse into the sea quickly and safely, posing no threat to the precious marine life below.

If marine craft are the backbone of your business, then it’s in your best interests to keep them clean. The corrosive power of salt is well-known, and you can’t afford to leave it unattended. Envirosafe Solutions provides a range of tough, specialised cleaning solutions to suit the unique working environments of Australia. We understand your needs, and we have the products to meet them. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can assist you with marine glass cleaning, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

Extreme Green Sanitiser/Mould Rid

Mould and mildew are unwelcome guests in the workplace. The green slimy or black stuff is a serious health  hazard for your employees. The presence of mould colonies is known to cause respiratory problems and allergic reactions, and big patches of slippery slime are an obvious OH&S issue. Mould is invasive, and once it gets into your dark and damp corners it can be an absolute nightmare to get rid of. You need to get on top of mould before it gets on top of you, and that means you need a powerful cleaner that kills the fungus and sanitises the surface area.

Extreme Green Sanitiser/Mould Rid is a tough mould removal agent that’s especially suited to hard surfaces, such as stone, masonry and brick – ideal for rugged Australian working conditions. This product doesn’t clean mould away temporarily – it kills it for good, using a specially engineered blend of chlorine, sulphates, alkalis and non-ionic surfactants. Extreme Green Sanitiser/Mould Rid is the all-in-one solution for keeping your toilets, showers and refuse areas clean and fungi-free.

A unique feature of this product is its ability to cling to vertical surfaces for extended periods of time. When you spray a conventional mould cleaner on to a vertical surface, it typically slides straight down the wall and into the drain, which means the product only comes into contact with the mould for a matter of seconds. Extreme Green Sanitiser/Mould Rid is different – it’s the Spiderman of mould cleaners. By virtue of its special chemical composition, this products attaches to the wall surface and stays there, working its powerful cleaning magic until you rinse it off. More contact time on a soiled and mouldy surface means better cleaning results. Simple.

The power of Extreme Green Sanitiser/Mould Rid is matched only by its simplicity of use. This is a free-rising cleaner that mixes readily with water, ensuring quick and effective results in all situations. Mould rid kills the green & black stuff and then washes away quickly and easily. Because this product contains no petro-solvents or harsh acids, it’s biodegradable and safe to dispose of in the waterways.

Envirosafe Solutions recognises the need for tough cleaning products to meet tough working conditions in Australia. Yet we also know that cleaning products need not harm the environment or  the user, which is why all our cleaning solutions are both 100% powerful and 100% safe when used as directed. For more information on how Envirosafe Solutions can assist you with mould removal, please contact us on 1300 88 90 70.

What does the Japan disaster mean for Australian mining?

Japan is struggling with its worst peacetime disaster on record. While the Japanese government and defence forces work desperately to contain the damage from the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, broad questions are emerging about the viability of nuclear energy.

Here in Australia, uncertainty reigns over what impact this tragedy will have on local industry – particularly the resources sector.

Japan is one of Australia’s principal commodity export markets. The country buys an estimated 2,500 tonnes of our uranium each year, making Japan our third biggest customer after the US and the European Union.

The future of this commercial relationship – and indeed of uranium mining in general – has been thrown into doubt by the nuclear crisis Japan. According to a March 14 report in the Wall Street Journal:

“Billions of dollars of uranium-mining investments in Australia could be at risk if explosions and radiation leaks at reactors in quake-hit Japan prompt governments to rethink plans to produce more nuclear power.”

Global confidence in nuclear power is wavering in the aftermath of events in Japan. In response to the crisis, the German government moved immediately to shut down some of its own ageing reactors – and a similar response from other major economies is possible.

Australian uranium stocks have taken a significant hit in the wake of Japan’s crisis. Uranium mining companies here, most notably BHP Billiton, are now faced with a serious dillema: to push ahead with planned new uranium developments, or place a freeze on uranium projects until the long-term implications of the Japan crisis are clear.

The ultimate impact of this disaster will not be known for some time, but one thing is clear: there is now a powerful new argument against nuclear energy. This tragedy in Japan will be a talking point in the debate for many years to come. The Australian Greens have been quick to seize on this news in their argument against nuclear energy.

There is some good news for Australian exports in amongst all this. Japanese demand for finished steel exports is forecasted to spike in the near future, as the country begins an enormous reconstruction effort that will likely last for many years.

Envirosafe Solutions is committed to sustainable industry that’s safe for our planet. This tragedy is a reminder of the need to invest in green technology to meet our power requirements for the future. We express our heartfelt condolences to the people of Japan at this difficult time.
